Who Brought the POWER in November?

To this day, I can still remember the first time Bob Dunn walked through the doors of Power Ryde. It was a Friday evening in March, after our Friday afternoon class. My mom and I were cleaning up and about to lock the front door when he walked in. He said he wanted to learn more about the bikes. He was an avid spinner and had heard great things about our full-tilt RealRyder bikes. Then he told me that at his former gym he was always on top of the leader board for having the highest wattage output; I knew Bob would fit in well at Power Ryde!  

From that day forward, Bob did not disappoint. Before he walked out of our doors he said to SIGN HIM UP for the next morning's class. He showed up Saturday ready to ryde...and he kept coming back...3, 4, and sometimes 5 times a week! And he has continued this routine since March! Bob comes to just about every 6:30pm class and at least once or twice on the weekends. Sometimes he will ryde a double when we have FUNdraising Rydes for charity. No matter which class Bob attends, he always gives 110% and he ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS, can be found in the middle of the room rocking bike number 1 (<---How appropriate!)!

What brought you to Power Ryde?

What brought me to Power Ryde? I was taking a spinning class at another gym when my instructor, Erinn Whitehead, told us about Power Ryde and how good the workout was. I also heard about Power Ryde through my friend, Leigh Anne Meurer, while my wife and I were vacationing with her in Mexico. Leigh Anne was going on about how great Power Ryde was and how much she enjoyed the workout, so when I got back in town I signed up for a class.

Do you remember your first ryde? How did you feel? What kept you coming back for more?

The first Power Ryde class I attended was a FUNdraising Ryde for the Norton family of Loveland. I attended the fifth and final class that day. Erinn Whitehead was the instructor. In the class was Kim Emery, who was finishing her fifth class of the day and was about to complete 120 miles total! The ryde was tough, but I thought if Kim could do what she did, I could finish what I had started.

Why do you ryde at Power Ryde?

I ryde at Power Ryde to get in better shape and to keep my blood sugar under control. I enjoy the way the instructors motivate us as we ryde and I appreciate how positive all the Power Ryde instructors, staff and students are. Casey and Meg make everyone feel like part of their family and they are always very helpful with whatever you may need.

What goals has Power Ryde helped you achieve?

Power Ryde and the Power 30 Program have helped me lose 14 lbs., lower my blood sugar, and feel better about my fitness. Since starting Power Ryde, my overall strength and endurance have improved when I ride outside.

What goals are you hoping to achieve next year in 2016?

In 2016, I would like to continue to Power Ryde as much as possible, continue to lose weight, and maybe start running again.

Do you have a favorite moment that you remember at Power Ryde?

My favorite moments at Power Ryde are when I get to ride at the same time as Kim Emery and/or Danny O'Keefe. They are both very inspirational and it motivates me to ryde with people that are putting 100% effort out at all times.
Another favorite moment at Power Ryde was on Halloween, when I was able to wear my kilt to show my Scottish heritage.

What motivates you?

What motivates me is a Power Ryde class with good tunes and a class full of energy!!!

When you are not Power Ryding, what can we find you doing?

When I'm not at Power Ryde, I enjoy UC Football and the Bengals and of course my wife, 4 kids, 4 grandchildren, and work (not in that order).
