Who Brought the POWER in April (2016)?

Polaroid style picture of Amy Reiss, Julia Gibson and Kelly Cappelletty with 'Who Brought the POWER in 'April'?

Amy Reiss, Julia Gibson and Kelly Cappelletty

The Three Musketeers - Amy, Julia and Kelly. These ladies have been running together for years and now they come RYDE together. You will usually see them all ryding up front; Kelly likes her corner bike, Julia likes Bike 18, and Amy bounces around. Sometimes they ryde together and sometimes they ryde separately, but one thing is for certain...they BRING IT each and every class. I actually once overheard Julia say she wasn't competitive, and I thought to myself, "Yeah, right, have you seen your face during sprints?!" She has her eyes on the prize all class; and not just Julia...Kelly and Amy are equally competitive. I can't imagine how intense their training runs must be! Regardless, we love having them all at Power Ryde. With the Flying Pig Half-Marathon just a couple weeks ago (did you notice their matching Flying Pig t-shirts and Piggie headbands in the photo??), we thought we would spotlight these ladies and learn more about how Power Ryde has helped them run faster and run with fewer injuries!

What brought you to Power Ryde?

Amy -  I train for two half-marathons a year and cross-training was something that I was eager to mix in but I could never find the right fit. I tried PR and was hooked! It is a great cardio and core workout in one!

Julia -  I first came to PR because I wanted some cardio cross-training for days I did not run.

Kelly - My chiropractor recommended Power Ryde as a cross-training activity for all of my running.

Do you remember your first ryde? How did you feel? What kept you coming back for more?

A - Yes...it was so hard, and I was sore! My inner athlete kept me coming back- I thought even though I felt like I was going to fall over, if these other people can do it and make it look easy, I can too!

J - I do remember my first ryde....but I really remember the day AFTER my first ryde. I was sore and wasn't sure I wanted to come back again! I had purchased 5 classes so I convinced myself I needed to use them all, by class 5 I was hooked!

K - Oh, I remember! I was quite sore after my first ryde. However, I loved it! I loved that the bikes moved, giving such a great full-body workout.

Why do you ryde at Power Ryde?

A - I ryde for the fabulous cross-training workout, for core strengthening, for "me time," and for self-therapy...when I just need to blow off stress. I also enjoy seeing my friends there and socializing before and after class :)

J - I absolutely love everything about it - the workout, the music, the teachers, the owners, and the ryders. I never leave PR without a smile on my face (even at 6:15am).

K - Not only is it a great workout, but the people are so fun and inspiring!

What did you do for fitness prior to Power Ryde?

A - Run, and occasional yoga and pilates

J - I love running and Pilates!

K - I've done a bit of everything but my staple activity has always been running.

What goals has Power Ryde helped you achieve?

A - I run two half-marathons a year and some other races inbetween- I have improved ALL of my race times tremendously in the past year, and PR has helped without a doubt. I shaved 8 whole minutes off of my best PR (personal record) time in my fall half-marathon!! I felt amazing!

J - I achieved my best half-marathon time (1:29:32) in Columbus last fall and I know PR had a whole lot to do with that!

K - I have become so much stronger.

What goals are you hoping to achieve in 2016?

A - To stay strong and injury free, and to feel strong in the races I run.

J - I have a big birthday this year and I am hoping to run 4 half-marathons (one for each decade). Other than that.....staying healthy and active! --> This is such an awesome goal!

K - I hope to continue to build my strength and endurance.

Do you have a favorite moment that you remember at Power Ryde?

A -  Too many to count - Casey doing some sort of funny dance move :), ryding with Bengals' coaches in Erin's class, and a New Year's themed class with awesome music. The camaraderie is terrific and fun, and you meet so many different people.

J - Hmmm.....probably when Kimpossible and I did 5 classes on NYE and NY Day! We had a blast and her outfit was AMAZING! Perfect way to end 2015 and kick off 2016!

K - There have been so many great moments, it's tough to pick a favorite. I'd have to say there are definitely individual ryders who always keep class interesting and make it more fun (you guys know who you are!!)!

What is your favorite music to ryde to?

A - Hip hop, 80's...anything with a fast beat!

J - I love music and really enjoy ryding to anything...except country!

K - I have to confess, I love a good "Pop" tune. I'm kind of a sucker for the Top 40 Hits. I love it when you feel like dancing while ryding! --> I can just see Kelly dancing in her car to the Top 40 Countdown each week!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A - I grew up in Southern California. I speak Spanish and we speak Spanish in our home so my two girls are bilingual. I also have lived in 6 states and one other country (Spain).

J - Before kids, I was a CPA and worked at P&G in Finance/Accounting. I just got certified to teach Pilates and am hoping that is my post-kids career path!

K - My husband, Dave, and I were a bit transient during our first nine years of marriage. We lived in Akron (OH), Jacksonville (FL), and Charlotte (NC) before moving to Loveland. We've been here the longest - 5 years! We're certainly hoping for no more moves! --> We also hope for no more moves!

What motivates you?

A - My fit friends motivate me to be my best. My kids also motivate me - they are non-stop - so I need to be in shape to keep up with them!

J - My family. I want to provide a healthy example.

K - Exercise endorphins!! I can also be motivated to exercise to escape the crazy zoo at my house sometimes!

When you are not Power Ryding, what can we find you doing?

A - Running, cooking, baking, and/or playing outside with my two girls, my husband and our chocolate lab, Fenway.

J - Running, cooking, and cheering on my kids at soccer, basketball and football games!

K - Running, Pilates, playing with my kiddos, sewing, working in my yard, and/or organizing!

^No wonder they are friends, they enjoy doing the same exact things!!

How has Power Ryde helped your running?

A - Power Ryde is an amazing cross-training activity for running. It has made me a stronger and faster runner. It has also helped with my overall endurance.

J - I am stronger and faster than I have ever been, thank to Power Ryde!

K - I've become so much stronger and quicker. I think my muscles can adapt better to changes in elevation and speed because of Power Ryde.
